Heading and notes: No Form Number.
Message area: Blank.
Reverse side: Blank.

The front of the official envelope showing that the contents were on official business and addressed to the OPERATOR (of the telegraph station) at Green Ponds.

The Frank Stamp shows the letter was sent on 6 July 1875.

The Free Frank hand stamp applied to the front of the envelope indicating the message was official.

The flap was damaged when the sealing wax was removed.

The inside of the envelope showing the message being sent to Rev. Adams.
It is dated 7 July 1875 (indicating the sender anticipated the telegram would be transmitted the day after he sent the envelope).

The message reads:

"Mr Bedford and family not at home gone to Sherwood. G. W. Ife (?) Bothwell".

The message contained 10 words and so the charge was 1/- (presumably included inside the envelope when it was posted).

The Operator at Green Ponds read the letter at 2:50 pm and transmitted it at 3:30 pm.
