General characteristics:

Heading and notes:	TELEGRAPHIC DESPATCH spans the Crest.
Reverse side:	Blank - no flap seal.
Colours (text & envelope):	Red on cream.
Size of envelope overall:	80 × 138 mm (with some variation).

Distinctive characteristics of this form:

form number E 19 in top right corner;
no markings on the reverse side
IMMEDIATE in the lower left corner has a closing bracket but no opening bracket;
EO-4A: Lion facing the Unicorn across a large shield (16 × 33 mm) and the Crest is fairly flat across the width;
EO-4B: Lion facing outwards so NOT towards the Unicorn. The Crest is smaller (11 × 25 mm) is raised at the base between the suppoerters

	SC-EO-4A. Used at Hindmarsh (3 February 1888). See accompanying delivery form SC-DO-6Bb - a special form with HINDMARSH printed on it. Characteristics: IMMEDIATE is in the lower left corner. This format for a delivery envelope has also been recorded used on 1 October 1894 at Minlaton (on SC-DO-8B).
	SC-EO-4A - details of the Crest. Crest is oval horizontally; the Crown on the top of the shield is slightly curved; Lion is facing the Unicorn; has considerable shading on the animals and on the circumference of the shield; the tails are thicker and the decorations under the rear feet are larger. there are three arcs for the motto under the crest.
	SC-EO-4B: Unused envelope with pencil annotation 'PG 178'. Characteristics: IMMEDIATE is in the lower left corner. This format for a delivery envelope has also
	SC-EO-4B - details of the Crest. Crest is circular with a rectangular shield; the Crown on the top of the shield is flat; Lion is facing out of the page; there is only one arc for the motto under the crest; general design is less flamboyant.
